Linguistics Linguistics is housed administratively with the English and composition discipline, within the Humanities Department in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters. Linguistics is not a concentration program, but students may earn a minor in linguistics and use lingustics as an area of focus for the Bachelor of General Studies degree completing 12 hours of upper-division credit in linguistics. In addition to basic introductory courses in linguistics, a number of upper-level courses are offered, some of which are cross-listed with English, including History of the English Language, American English and Modern English Grammar. Secondary education students seeking certification in English are required to take an introductory course in linguistics and Modern English Grammar. Linguistics Courses Linguistics Faculty |
